We all have someone to go home to: whether it’s a house full of family members, or just your dog. Perhaps you live alone, but there’s still someone who wants you home safely after each shift. Keep your mind on the task. Make sure you have the right tools for the job, and stay aware of your surroundings and changing conditions. If in doubt about the safety of the task you’ve been asked to do, you have the “right to refuse” unsafe work. It’s the law.

The Alberta OH&S Act specifies that no worker shall be expected to work in unsafe conditions. And no employee shall be disciplined for refusing to work in presumed or confirmed unsafe conditions.

If in doubt, stop and ask a supervisor. Five minutes could save your life!!
